Trouble connecting to Microsoft from WinXP Pro SP2 computer on net

I try to just upgrade to CFMX 6.1, hoping it will fix the problem, the problems increase that my ODBC services no longer start and I get data sequelink I don't know. If anyone has had problems loading on WinXP Pro SP2, and then was successful, can you tell me your trick? I'd be happy to just get CFMX
